The Charter Members of our chapter believed that the Light of Sigma should shine a wider and brighter beam to the various communities in the Madison and St. Clair Counties of Southern Illinois. By re-activating Sigma Men who have have been inactive for some time or have relocated to towns in the Metro-East area, developing effective programming more closely aligned to that of the International Headquarters, operating with sound business practices, and leveraging the collective mental energies of a diverse group of men, the Charter Members felt that nothing short of greatness was in store.
Upon the recommendations of Illinois State Director, Bro. James Fitzpatrick, the outgoing and incoming Great Lakes Regional Directors, Bros. Winston K. O'Neal and James D. Stephens, respectively, and under the administration of our 31st International President, the Hon. Bro. Arthur R. Thomas, Esq., in May of 2002 Nu Gamma Sigma Chapter was granted its Charter by the International Headquarters of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Nu Gamma Sigma Chapter has, over the years, been instrumental in helping Southern Illinois grow and thrive by reactivating the Delta Tau Chapter (Southern Illinois University at Carbondale) in 2003, as well as Epsilon Pi Chapter (Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville) in 2008, Nu Gamma Sigma continues to spread Sigma's wings over campuses at McKendree University (Lebanon, IL) and Lindenwood University - Belleville as efforts are underway to charter chapters at both institutions.
Our Cause Speeds On It's Way!!!
